Welcome to the She Stands Kenya Conference, 2025! This year’s theme, “Bestowed,” celebrates the divine grace God has bestowed upon us, calls us to move from living in shame to embracing changed lives, and reminds us of the love God has poured on us in His Son Jesus, allowing us to choose to step into our Bestowal with courage and commitment!

Dr. Chao

Chao is married to James and is the mother of their two sons. She is the founder and leader of

She Stands Kenya, which aims to equip women with biblical principles for their daily lives so they can impact their communities. She graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with an M.Div. in Women’s Studies and holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Counseling.

Maria Mathis

Maria, a native of Texas, serves as a leader at her local pregnancy center and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in theological studies. She is passionate about nourishing others with the Word of God, helping them grow and flourish in His Kingdom. Maria has been married to Anthony for 28 years, and together they have five children.

Laura Taylor

Laura is the Women’s Ministry leader at SBTC, retreat planner, and speaker. Her passion is to disciple women to follow Christ. She holds a Master’s of Divinity and is a trained chaplain for her region’s disaster relief. Laura is married to Wade and they are blessed with two daughters and three grandchildren. She and her husband make their home in Texas.

Kim Coker

Kim is a wife to Gary, a mother of three grown children, and six grandchildren. Her calling is Bible literacy, and she is currently pursuing her Master’s in Biblical studies at Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago. She comes with over 30 years of experience teaching God’s Word to various groups and churches, propelling the Gospel to women of all ages.

Her experience includes a ministry to women recovering from alcohol and drug addictions, where she taught and witnessed many come to Christ. Kim is passionate about God’s Word and loves to share that passion with others..

Kanze Dena Mararo

Kanze is a celebrated Kenyan media personality with over 15 years of experience and the first woman to serve as Spokesperson and Head of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She was honored with the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (M.B.S) and continues to serve the former President in retirement. Passionate about inspiring women through Scripture, Kanze uses her voice to help others understand their identity in Christ—a journey she deeply relates to.

She serves in the worship and couples ministry at St. Francis Church, sits on the board of Ignite Her for Africa, and is also active in the creative arts she uses as a tool for evangelism and social transformation. She is married to Nicholas Mararo and the mother of three boys and one daughter who is in heaven.

Rachel Grubbs

Rachel is the Women’s Ministry Director at Emmanuel Baptist Church in White Oak, Texas. She is married to Levi and is the proud mother of two daughters, a son-in-law, and a cherished grandson who fills her life with joy.

Rachel is deeply committed to helping women discover their identity in Christ. She leads with compassion, purpose, and a heart devoted to serving others.
